We are now in the time of the Church Year that is considered Holy Week. Holy Week starts with Palm Sunday and ends with Easter, when we celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord.
This Thursday, March 29, is Maundy Thursday. We will have a Maundy Thursday service at 7 pm which will feature both Holy Communion and foot-washing. The message will reflect on the Bible passages of John 13:1-17, 31b-35 and is titled Love Like This. If you have never experienced a service with foot-washing, please come. It is a truly humbling experience.
Friday, March 30, is Good Friday. The Good Friday service will start at 7 pm. It is a Tenebrae Service. The word “tenebrae” comes from the Latin meaning “darkness.” The Tenebrae is an ancient Christian Good Friday service that makes use of gradually diminishing light through the extinguishing of candles to symbolize the events of that week from the triumphant Palm Sunday entry through Jesus’ burial.
Easter Sunday, a day of celebration, service is at 10 am. Our service will include Holy Communion, music, and liturgical dance.
